Jackie Von Tobel’s Animalia Collection was inspired by the feminine qualities of nature. Bright pink flamingoes with fluffy feathers, scampering roosters surveying their lay of the land, jewel-toned herons with feathers finely rendered, a kaleidoscope of winsome butterflies in flight, and a trio of the fanciful winged creatures in black are the characters that populate this whimsical kingdom.
Papillon Noir I is one of two paintings in this pattern that has been reproduced as a Fine Art Giclee Print. The dramatically scaled butterflies seem as if they have been painted in a tie-dyed effect that brings the composition with its dark black background a slight textural quality. Hang it beside Papillon Noir II to create a dynamic diptych.
